Yesterday, MSNBC posted a comment by David Axelrod from an interview that was quite eye-opening, a veritable window into the soul of the Democratic Party machinery these days. If you keep up with politics, you know that David Axelrod is part of the inner circle of the Obama administration. MSNBC summarized his comments from the interview in the short article that accompanied the video: “The government is simply too big for President Obama to keep track of all the wrongdoing taking place on his watch, his former senior adviser, David Axelrod, told MSNBC. “Part of being president is there’s so much beneath you that you can’t know because the government is so vast,” he explained.” This is almost a jaw-dropping admission by an über-liberal/progressive that our modern, American leviathan-sized government is just not manageable nor is it feasible.
Modern socialist government has to be so monstrously big in order to fulfill all the divine promises it makes to the faithful who worship at the altar of big government. In fairness, it is not only liberals and Democrats who worship at that altar. One of the biggest modern expansions of government happened on the watch of and with the blessing of supposedly conservative George Bush. And don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe that government must have absolutely no function in the welfare of its people. But there has to be a reasonable balance, which we most certainly do not have right now. Moreover, we humans are just not smart enough to know what that correct balance is. Unfortunately, the American people are not turning to God for answers very much these days, and doubly unfortunately, leaders, as well as the rank-and-file people, in the ruling Democratic Party seem to want nothing to do with God, the only One who is wise enough to determine the correct balance and to help us as a people to get it right.
In this hyperlinked video from the Democratic National Party convention from September 6, 2012, it is very clear that there is almost an even split in the voices for and against God being in the platform with a slight edge in favor of those against God. The vote requirement was for a 2/3 majority in order for the pro-God statement to be put into the platform, but an average listener can easily discern that there is nowhere near the 2/3 in favor. Those in favor are slightly less than 50 percent by my reckoning, so the vote to include God in the Democraticic Party platform should have failed. But the speaker at the microphone pretended that he didn’t hear or couldn’t distinguish the difference in the level of auditory magnitude on each side of voice voters. Of course, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know why he ignored the actual vote. The leaders of the Democratic Party had already decided which way they wanted the vote to go. And everything they did during that convention was done with one goal in mind – to get Obama reelected.
In this particular vote, Democratic Party leaders knew that, if they didn’t have the God statement in their platform, if they had followed the actual vote and left the God statement out – they knew that the American public would have recognized them for the religious zealots that they are, worshipping at the altar of big government. And if the public had really realized who the Democrats are, there would have been a huge firestorm of controversy that may have derailed the successful reelection of Obama. So, they deliberately ignored the votes of the Democratic National Party convention delegates in order to avoid a fiasco in the reelection campaign. But this was hypocrisy at its highest level. The Democratic Party leaders, behind the scenes out of the notice of the public, were so adamant in their rejection of God and all things Christian, that they did the unthinkable in another incident during the convention. They rejected an offer of hospitality from local churches that came with no strings attached. The local churches in denominations that range the whole spectrum, pooled their resources and put together gift baskets to reach out to and help party delegates feel welcomed to the city.
It was a simple act of kindness, and most people would have recognized that and accepted the baskets. Yet, shockingly, Democratic Party leaders would not even allow the distribution of the baskets because they believe that these mainline churches are radical and want nothing to do with them. If this had happened at the Republican National convention, it would have hit the news and been reported at every major news outlet. But since it happened at the Democratic convention, the incident received scant attention by reporters. Reporters instinctively knew such radical rejection of religion, in a country that is extremely religious (mostly Christian), would have been disastrous PR. So, reporters and Democratic Party leaders apparently chose to be hypocritical and hide their disdain for all things Christian. But even if they were able to fool the American people, you can bet that God knows. He knows all things. Suffice it to say, though, that over half of the Democratic Party and most of the Democratic Party leaders reject Christianity and most likely do not care very much for God, either.
I hope I do not offend anyone with these words. I am not trying to pick a fight. And I am not making a political statement that is designed to make Democrats look bad and Republicans look good by default. I am hardly what you could call a Republican. There are many things that I don’t like about the Republican Party, either. But the truth is the truth. Both of these incidents mentioned above are well-documented, and the hyperlinks to each of them are available, so you don’t have to take my word for it.
Still more on this tomorrow. My apologies. I didn’t expect this topic to run this long, but I feel like God is guiding me to be very thorough in this topic since the American people have put so much trust in their government God and have put their trust for all things into politics. I believe that God is trying to speak through me and tell those that are within the reach of my blog that we need to repudiate our trust in the government for all of our needs and turn to the Real God, who can supply all of our needs in a way that government cannot.
I pray that you will all walk today in fellowship, in peace, in power, and in joy with The Most Awesome and Glorious God.
