The Scripture tells us that God made man just a little bit lower than the angels (Ps. 8:5), so man has a very exalted place of honor in God’s Creation. He also made man in His Image, His Likeness. He wanted man to be like Him so that He could enjoy fellowship with this unique creature. This means that we have a soul or spirit within us, a very intrinsic component of our makeup, and this spirit is like the Spirit of our Creator in form. Moreover, we are a personal creation of God. In Genesis 2:7, we are told that God formed man from the ground, using the matter that was already present in the earth, so we are linked to the earth throughout our days. But this was also a personal creation. God spoke most things into existence, but for the creation of Man, God personally formed Him with His Hands, and He gave man life by breathing into him the Very Breath of God (Gen. 2:7). These verses should tell us that man is a very, very special creation in God’s Eyes. Being that God put so much personal effort into man and made man like Himself, then He must love man very greatly and must treasure man in His Heart.
In addition, God has given man so much honor and privilege in Creation. God has given us all free will, complete freedom of action to do anything that our mind can conceive. He gave His Crowning Achievement free will so that man could choose whether to follow Him, whether to seek Him, and whether to Love Him. This free choice to follow and love Him brings Pleasure and Glory to God because it is not coerced. When man freely chooses God, it proves that God is higher than all creation and proves that God’s Way is the best way, that God’s Will is the best place for people to be. Furthermore, in addition to all these honors and privileges, God gave man dominion over Creation, a very honorable and important position. This comes with much privilege and much responsibility. We are to be good stewards of His Creation. We should never be wasteful. This is why man should only kill animals for food. If the animals are to be killed for sport, the meat should always be eaten to avoid waste and to give honor to the taking of its life. Moreover, because we must be good stewards, we should be respectful of the use of all the rich resources that we reap from the ground. We should take care of all our possessions in thankfulness to God, and we should avoid unnecessary waste in our refuse. This is why we recycle in our house and always have once we got in the habit of it and learned of its value while we were living in Germany.
If mankind is so important to God, then the careless, flippant taking of a life for selfish reasons is an insult to God and an assault on His Plan for the betterment of all people. There is, of course, a provision for the taking of a life in due process of law for justice, a life for a life, when a man or woman has taken the life of another human being in cold blood. Otherwise, in all other situations, who are we to say that any human life, regardless of the circumstances under which it was conceived, is devoid of value? This evil arrogance, usurping the authority of God, to determine which life is valuable and which is not, sounds Satanic in its very conception. All human life is to be valued. It is not a burden. It is not a choice. It will not ruin anyone’s life by being born. These arguments which demean life and attempt to justify the murder of innocents are Satanic in their origin. Life is always good in the eyes of God who gives all live. And all life belongs to God. It can only be taken in the circumstances that God allows for in His Scripture. Man has no other permission from God to take life.
I pray today that you will fully understand and grasp your infinite value to God. He loves you more than anyone else ever has loved you and more than anyone could ever love you, and He loves you more than you can ever comprehend. I pray also that you will honor life, this tremendous gift from God, in all your actions and words this day.
