I will state at the outset that I respect the office of the President as guided by the principles upon which our Constitution was founded. I honor his authority when rightfully and properly wielded and will still defend the Constitution in whatever capacity needed for my country as guided by God. This pledge to defend the Constitution and obey rightful orders is an oath that I have taken many times, as all American servicemen have and still do. It links us back to the common purpose as stated in the Constitution: “to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.” So all authority that is wielded in the military services, whether commissioned, warrant, or noncommissioned (NCOs, sergeants, seamen, petty officers, airmen, etc.), and in the offices of our nation’s government, should be directly tied to our charter (the Constitution). And these authorities should be duty bound to the original intent of our founders for the common good: Justice, domestic Tranquility, common defense, general welfare, and Liberty.
Additionally, this authority and the Constitution from which it derives are in turn founded upon basic principles of Natural Rights that God intended for all people to enjoy in our blessed land as well as throughout the world. These rights are inalienable. They are given by God and cannot be taken away without violating His Intent for the people. But perhaps we have brought this tyranny upon ourselves. Perhaps we have earned and deserved the corrupt leaders that we currently have because we would not trust in God as a nation. We have instead turned to our political gods for all things. This was not God's original intent for our nation. I truly believe that America was meant to be the “city that is set on a hill” that Jesus spoke about in Matthew 5:14, a beacon of freedom, a place of refuge (“Give me your tired, your poor/Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" – Inscription on the Statue of Liberty). I believe it was also intended by God to be an example of Godly principles for all peoples throughout the earth in this modern age, although we have certainly had our stumbles as we tried to live up to those principles in our country’s history, many times falling short from sin that we harbored in our hearts. But we have unfortunately, pridefully rejected all of God’s guidance, intervention, and His principles increasingly in the last few decades. We have increasingly turned to the liberal/progressive government god to provide all things to us as opposed to depending on the Real True God and His Grace.
Our lack of gratitude to God does not change the fact that all blessings still flow from Him. And God has continued to provide so many blessings in His Indulgent, Patient Will, even while we have increasingly rejected Him and turned to our government god. He has tried to get our attention to bring us to repentance as a nation by allowing unprecedented disasters on our nation: 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, the Sandy Hook massacre, financial disaster -- just to name a few. Yet the arrogance of our people, the defiance of our hearts in the aftermath of all these disasters is shocking. If you go to the stories about these disasters and look through the comments, if they have a comment section, you will find no humility or contrition. You will find very little reference to God. I seriously doubt you will find anyone contritely asking what we have done to provoke God to lift His Protective Hand from our nation, letting so many disasters in. God has blessed us well beyond what we deserve, and any Blessing from His Hand is a Miracle of His Intervention in this fallen world where the default is to chaos and decay (Lamentations 3:22-24). We should be so grateful to God for the amazing blessings that have been showered on our nation consistently in our short history. But instead of the proper contrition and gratitude, you will find in these public comment sections so many prideful, judgmental people, all of them thinking they have the answer, and none of the answers coming close to the truth because there is no truth in the hearts of our people anymore.
I will have more on this tomorrow. I’m sorry to write such a heavy message. I truly do not enjoy writing such heavy words, but it is a message that our nation needs to hear. Perhaps each of you can send this message to your friends and family. Perhaps if we truly repent as a people, God will be merciful and turn back His Wrath from us (2 Chronicles 7:14). Political solutions are no longer of any help (Psalm 11:3). Only God can save us in this hour when our culture is increasingly crumbling around us. I pray that, if you walk in fellowship with Him, you will not be afraid in these days (Psalm 91). I pray that His Peace that Passes All Understanding (Phil. 4:7) will fill your heart and soul, and that you will turn to Him Who Loves you more than you can ever comprehend (John 3:16, Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:9-11. John 13:34-35, Zephaniah 3:17, 1 John 4:7-8, 1 Peter 5:6-7, Job 34:19, Psalm 86:15, 1 John 3:1, Deuteronomy 7:9, Proverbs 8:17, Jeremiah 29:11, John 13:34-35, Psalm 136:26, Romans 5:2-5, Romans 8:37-39, and Psalm 37:28). Be of good courage because, if the Eternal God, the Creator of this universe is on your side, you have absolutely nothing to fear. His Power is Greater than all the powers on the earth combined, Infinitely Greater than the spiritual powers that attack us now in these dark days. And because He loves you, if you trust in Him, you will be safe.
